Us No Sense

Maybe it's 'cause I grew up in a trailer. Maybe it's cause now I'm livin' in a basement. Either way, I think the government-cheese sent me the wrong 2010 Census form. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those Teabaggin'-types who thinks the census will be used to monitor the voices in my head. But still...I think they got a bit too personal.

Political Con inSulting

Nevada, like a lot of states, has had a hard time this year balancing the budget. To help the situation there have been layoffs and furloughs and pay cuts given to state employees. Problem is, the douchebag politicians running the joint didn’t think their pay warranted any cuts. That is, until now. Last week Assemblyman Ed Goedhart, R-Amargosa Valley, cut a check to the NV for $526.65. That represented a six percent pay cut. While y’all might think this is gonna be a feel-good piece about Assemblyman Ed, you’d be wrong.

Several representatives, when asked why they didn’t buck up like the rest of us, said that they don’t make enough money in the first place and that cutting nothing from nothing was stupid. Fair enough. But just how much “nothing” do these government-cheese dicks get? Well, I did the math (hey…no jokes).

It turns out Nevada State Legislators make a flat $8,777 dollars for every 60 day session. Since sessions always run 120 days, they still make $8,777. Now eight grand for four months’ work isn’t very much but when you consider that NV Reps also get a $167 daily per diem for the full 120 days and are reimbursed for travel, lodging and moving expenses, things start to add up. Let’s see…167 x $120 = $20,040. Add in the eight grand and the total swells to $28,817 not including travel, lodging and moving expenses.

So, Nevada Legislators like Senator Barbara Cegavske and Assembly Majority Leader John Oceguera get almost thirty grand for four month’s work, PLUS travel, lodging and moving money AND the prestige of being a big-time politician and they think that 30G’s isn’t a lot of scratch. SHEESH! Listen up douchebags...if you don't like the pay, don't run for office. It's called public service for a reason. But we can only blame ourselves, folks. We voted these chucklenuts into office. Here’s hoping we all remember this post next election time and vote the rat-bastards out. All except Assemblyman Ed. That brotherhubbard should run for governor. True dat.

Daddy's War Bucks

Ya know, I get a lot of flak from the “tinfoil hat” crowd over their assertions that I have a bromance with the ‘Bamer. Heck-fire, it’s kinda funny considering I’ve never been a fan of no man. But they’ve got to understand that after the eight years we had of Chimp Dick and Dr. Evil, anyone woulda been better. That said, Barry-O has been pissing in my Corn Flakes lately.

When Prezzy B. was running for office, he promised to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He promptly did the douchebag move and forgot about getting out of Iraq. And now, he’s considering escalating in Afghanistan. He says he wants the U.S. to stay ‘til the job is done. Aye caramba! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Afghanistan is where empires go to die. And we’re gonna be there ‘til America, as a country, isn’t any better than Finland (apologies to my Finnish brotherhubbards). Yo Barry-O, you wanna get the job done? How ‘bout spending some of that free money on creating jobs here at home and less money on making new terrorists?

The other thing that’s cheesing me off about Chocolate JZeus, is his reticence on healthcare reform. Look, y’all aren’t gonna get one vote from the tighty-righties, so why not “pull a Bush” on ‘em and ram the motherhubbard down their throats anyway? I know, I know, you’re gonna get republicans sayin’ we can’t afford it and that they don’t want a government-cheese bureaucrat making people’s health decisions. Question:

Why is it that we have unlimited trillions of dollars to blow up brown-skinded brothers in far away lands but we don’t have enough money to help our own poor, sick and dying? Next time I hear a politician waxing poetic about America being a “Christian nation,” I’m gonna break my foot off in his John Brown hindpot. True dat.

And last question: Yo republicans! Y’all say you are against bureaucrats meddling in a person’s medical choices. So how come y’all keep sticking your anglo-bourgie cracker noses into a woman’s lawful right to choose? Hypocrites.

L7 Squared

Ya know…I hate to tell y’all I told ya so but, “I told ya so!” Earlier this week, the general in charge of American troops in Afghanistan said that we’ve gotta re-think our strategy in that conflict. No shit, Captain Obvious. Problem is, like I said before, no matter what plan we put in place, short of nuking the whole country into bolivia, is gonna end up with the same result. Mujahedeen – 5 The Rest of the World – 0. Remember your history peeps…Afghanistan is where empires go to die. And the American empire is getting’ ready to take a dirt nap on this one.

The thing that really sucks, though (as if the loss of our standing in the world isn’t enough) is that the Government-Cheese doesn’t even realize that awful reality. As a matter-of-fact, yesterday former director of Homeland Security, Tom Ridge, said that we’d have to change our thoughts on what victory in Afghanistan means. When they start moving the goal posts in the middle of the game, you know you’re screwed. Ridge said victory in Afghanistan would mean rebuilding that country. Aye caramba! Is that really what you think T.R.?

I’m gonna say this again but I know it’ll fall on deaf ears. Alexander the Great tried, Genghis Kahn tried, the Roman Empire, the British Empire and the Soviet Union all tried to invade Afghanistan. They all failed. Now, we’ve tried and failed too. But that isn’t even the worst part. The worst part is that chuckleheads like Tom Ridge want to spend more time and effort and lives and treasure “rebuilding” Afghanistan. Guess what guys, rebuilding Afghanistan is an oxymoron. How can you rebuild a country that, at its political and cultural apex was still wallowing in the fourth century? SHEESH!

BTW…out of all the news coming out of Afghanistan lately, contractors bein' wack-jobs, again…IED’s blowin’ the bejeezus out of our troops and such, you haven’t heard one peep about Beau Bergdahl. Hello…where are all the patriots now? Or were they even patriots in the first place?

Monday Morning Mind Wonderings

The Government-Cheese in Taxachusetts is going to appoint a “caretaker” to Teddy K’s Senate seat. It’s only an interim gig but, heck-fire, it’s a Senate seat nonetheless. Sources close to the situation speculate that TK’s widow is gonna get the nod. Aye caramba! Since when does the intimate knowledge of a Senator’s doodle translate to the ability to legislate? If that’s the line of reasoning, wouldn’t the skank ho’s that David Vitter was bangin’ be qualified for office too? SHEESH!

To help out with Kal-ee-for-nee-uh’s budget deficit, the Governator is holding a garage sale. HAW! Serves the motherhubbards right. That’s what y’all get when you elect a juiced-up, drug abusing B-list actor as your Governor. Although, as a Nevadan, I have no room to talk about crappy governors.

Finally, we’ve got to shout out a hearty HUZZAH to Paul Lewis. He’s a British cameraman who was shooting video of a rookie making her first jump when his main parachute failed to open. His reserve only partially opened. And the brotherhubbard SURVIVED the fall. Yee Haw! Yo P-Lew…next time you’re in the 775, look me up, we’ll hit the craps tables. With your luck, we’ll walk away owning the joint. True dat.

Warning Sighs

If the FDA and the Government-Cheese have their way, buying cigarettes is gonna scare the bejeezus outta people. There’s a study out that found placing graphic images on cigarette packaging makes people less likely to buy ‘em. Graphic images like black lungs, gangrenous feet, people breathing out of stomas and dead babies are a few of the pics they’re gonna use to keep people from using tobacco products. Now, I’m not really in favor of that idea. After all, tobacco is a legal product here in the USo’A. But if the Government-Cheese wants to show people the deadly evils that come with smoking, I think they should expand the whole thing.

1. From now on, there should be graphic images of mutilated bodies and corpses lying on the side of the road in every car commercial.

2. Every bag of fast food sold in America should be required to have a picture of one of those morbidly obese people – naked!

3. Every alcoholic beverage should be labeled with the phrase “You ARE the father!”

4. Politicians must all get the word “LIAR” tattooed on their foreheads.

5. Cannabis clubs in California should have to sell their weed in baggies that look like little bags of Doritos.

6. High school diplomas must include an application to work at the nearest McDonald’s drive-thru.

7. And finally…every church in American must prominently display a picture – not a painting or a statue but a real-life photograph of their God. Of course, you wouldn’t see anything so they have to include the phrase “What Your Money Buys” underneath.

Just Being Social (ist)

Here in the USo’A, we’ve socialized our military. After all, fighting the Brits, or the Krauts, or the Commies, or whoever is in the Enemy of the Month Club is a function so important; we need the juice of the Government to get the job done right.

Do you think Blackwater could do a better job than the US Army? I don’t.

We’ve socialized law enforcement. Catching perps and tossin’ ‘em in the Gray Bar Motel is such an important function that we’ve given the Government-Cheese the task of keeping us safe from the baddies. You know who I’m talkin’ ‘bout: Shopkeepers who sell alcohol to minors, ‘ho’s, stoners, college kids illegally downloading music…you know really bad guys.

Do you think Paul Blart or 21 Jump Street can do a better job than The real PoPo? I don’t.

I t just seems to me that if our safety, our security and our protection is so important to us that we have to trust the government to do it, why isn’t the health of our children that important too? How ‘bout the health and welfare of millions of senior citizens and people living in poverty? How ‘bout our own health? Change the system? The smart ones say HELL YES! The government can't be as bad as private companies. The airheads who spout right-wing talking points say HELL NO! After all, the government wouldn’t do nearly as good a job as big pharma, the health insurance industry or corporate, for-profit hospital chains.

Hell, and I always thought we had a government of the people for the people and by the people. Maybe we could just let big business run the government too? Oh yeah, I forgot…they already do. SHEESH!

Newtered

I saw Newt Gingrich the other day blatherin’ on about Universal Healthcare. You know the Newt-ster. He’s the rat-bastard that was tellin’ us how JZeus talks to him and that gay marriage is bad and that we needed a constitutional amendment to save heterosexual marriage from all those gay people. All the while, he was bangin’ his paramour. Hypocrite. ANYWAY…

Newt was pretty adamant when he said we “shouldn‘t trust the government on these important issues.” He implied that there is no role for the government to play when a person makes decisions about his or her health choices. This from the same party that says a woman’s right to an abortion is wrong. Yo Newter…If you think the government-cheese should stay away from healthcare decisions, WTF were you the one leading the fight to keep Terri Schiavo plugged in over the objections of her family?

No, the republicans don’t want Government run healthcare. They want to leave that up to the insurance companies...

and the pharmaceutical companies...

and the big-time for-profit corporate hospitals.

Same as it ever was.

Driving Miss Lazy

I usually like studies…but this one sucks ass. According to the American Journal of Public Health (my second favorite magazine) crankin’ up the speed limit led to more than 12,000 deaths on US roads between 1995 and 2005. Now the chuckleheads are lobbying the Government-Cheese to re-lower the speed limit because they say it’ll save gas and save lives. Aye caramba!

-- First of all, everyone knows speed kills. But people were flyin’ around the freeways long before the Red Rocker expressed his inability to drive the speed limit…so it can’t just be speed.

-- In 1995, no one drove while talkin’ on a celly. Now, everyone does it. Hell, people these days even drive while Twittering! It’s so bad that a couple of states have made it illegal to drive while talkin’ on your cell. You think inattention had anything to do with the death spike? I do. BTW…”Death Spike” is an awesome name for a heavy metal band!

-- How ‘bout size? In 1995, people were drivin’ ‘round in Yugos, Saturns and Toyota Tercels. Nowadays, people are drivin’ ‘round in humongous SUV’s, monster trucks and Hummers so gnarly that the only thing missin’ on ‘em is the .50 caliber machinegun mounted on a top turret. You get hit by one of those bad boys and it’s sayonara sucka!

-- What about longevity? These days people are living (and driving) longer. And senior citizens think they’re just as invincible as teenagers! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been cut off and flipped off by blue hairs with their blue plates, rollin’ ‘round in their hoopty wagons. SHEESH!

-- And lastly, what about sheer volume? In 1995 the population of the USo’A was roughly 263 million people. In 2005 we rounded out to 296 million folks. That’s an increase of thirty-three million Americans. Hell, there are so many people on the road nowadays; you can’t help but to hit friggin’ something (and if Lou Dobbs had his way, you'd hit a brown-skinded brother)!

So, the AJPH wants to reduce the speed limit to save lives. I say, the speed limit has very little to do with it. As a matter of fact, reducing the speed limit would actually increase freeway deaths. How do I know? Take the drive from the RNO down to the 702. Keep your speed to 55 miles an hour on that long hump. You are gonna want to kill yourself. Personally, I usually make it to Tonopah before I contemplate the cyanide pills. True dat.

Adieu Harry Patch

There was a reason they called WWI the “War to End All Wars.” It was a nightmare. Eight million soldiers and seven million civilians were killed. Twenty-two million soldiers and countless civilians were injured. That’s just flat-out nasty. How do I know? Because I knew what was on the mind of Harry Patch and over the weekend, Harry Patch died. Patch was the last man alive who actually fought in the trenches in WWI. At 111 years old, he’d lived a long life but what struck people most about Harry Patch was his vigorous anti-war stance. He didn’t even talk about his experiences ‘til he was 100. But once he hit the century mark, he let loose, calling war, “…organized murder and nothing else.” Since Patch had first-hand experience with the nastiness that is war, you’d think people would have listened to him. You’d be wrong.

As we speak, the United States has 140,000 troops fighting in Iraq. In Afghanistan, we’ve got 50,000. Two wars, for the wrong reasons, against the wrong people. Hell, the United States has military personnel in almost forty foreign countries! WTF do we need our soldiers in fucking Norway? Are we protecting ‘em from the Swedes? In regard to Patch, Prince “I am NOT Gay” Charles said, “The Great War is a chapter in our history we must never forget, so many sacrifices were made, so many young lives lost.” No shit Chuck, ya think?

The crux of today’s biscuit is simple: War is one messed up motherhubbard and we, as the human race, should have grown out of it by now. But we haven’t learned a damned thing. Politicians and Government Cheese-Dicks suckle from the teat of the military-industrial complex just to get reelected…all the while perpetuating wars as “necessary.” They talk all patriotic about the sacrifices our heroic young people make then, they keep sending ‘em out to die. The thing is, soldiers do what their told. So, now it’s time politicians quit telling them to make the ultimate sacrifice and bring ‘em all home. They might not live to be 111 like Harry Patch…but at least, they’d have a chance. besides, nobody wants to be stationed in Norway.

He Doesn't Know Dick

Dr. Evil has been in the news a lot lately. Funny thing coming from the brotherhubbard that had Google Earth blur out his house for eight years. But like it or not, Dick Cheney is flappin’ his lie-hole and the whole world seems to be listening.

Yesterday, the former Veep took to the airwaves to…get this…defend gay marriage. Aye caramba! WTF did that come from? While he does have a gay daughter, Dick and his compatriots in the Bush administration never were the types to embrace those “afflicted with the Gay.” Guess times they are a changin’. But not that much. You see, Cheney had a caveat to his assertion that gay peeps should be allowed to get hitched. He said that marriage is, and always has been a state issue. "And I think that's the way it ought to be handled today, that is, on a state-by-state basis.” And that’s why Dick Cheney, in our humble opinion, is dumber than a sack of doorknobs.

It wasn’t that long ago that blacks couldn’t get married in certain states ‘cause they were considered “property.” An even shorter time ago, blacks and whites were not allowed to get married to each other in certain states because some racist rat-bastards thought it was immoral. Hell, if Alabama, Mississippi and the rest of the redneck, huckleberry states had their way, blacks still wouldn’t be allowed to marry.

No Dick…gay marriage shouldn’t be decided willy-nilly on the whim of some cracker-ass government-cheese dick in a state where the most common kinfolk is “Uncle-Dad.” This is America. We’re not supposed to roll like that. So we’re gonna toss you a soft one. Remember the Declaration of Independence?

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

That’s right Dick. Straight from the pen of TJ hisself. ALL men are created equal…that includes the men who like men, women who like women and all the peeps in between who love ‘em both. That's how we roll.

Bait and Switch

You can’t run on a platform of change and hope if you do the same fuckin’ bullshit the douchebag you replaced did.

Yesterday, the ‘Bamer said he’s gonna stop the release of hundreds of photos that show G.I. Joes abusing prisoners. He said the release of the photos would, “…further inflame anti-American opinion and to put our troops in greater danger.” Listen Barry-O…American troops are fighting two unnecessary wars with little rest and crappy gear. They’re already in great danger – a couple of pictures won’t change that. The president went on to say, "the individuals who were involved have been identified, and appropriate actions have been taken." How do we know? How can we believe you? After eight years of hearing Government-Cheese Dicks telling us “Things are being taken care of,” we’re a little leery of believing y’all right now.

Look Mr. President, it’s understandable that you’re politically scared. After all, Dr. Evil and Fat Man have already laid the blame for the next terrorist attack on you and your policies. But those policies look an awful lot like the policies of the Bush-Wipe and his administration. Where is the change you promised us? This is America. We don’t keep secrets from our citizens (anymore). We’re grownups. Release the photos and let Americans decide if you’ve taken care of business. Keep ‘em secret and you’re no better than the right-wing nut jobs who held your office the last two terms. Remember how that turned out?

Why We Freak

Studies have found that combat veterans are twice as likely to commit suicide as people in the general population. Can you see where this is goin’? Nine percent of all unemployment in the United States is attributed to combat exposure, as is 8 percent of all divorce or separation and 21 percent of all spousal or partner abuse. Aye Caramba! So why are people surprised when a soldier, either stationed abroad or right here at home, goes BSC and starts poppin’ caps into people? Y’all shouldn’t be. We weren’t. Here’s the crux of today’s biscuit:

Most of the brothers and sisters serving in Iraq and Afghanistan belong to the National Guard. Remember the National Guard? “One weekend a month and two weeks a year.” Not. Anymore. Thanks to Chimp-Dick’s two unwinnable and immoral wars, Guardsmen (and women) from all over the USo’A are getting stop-lossed into three, four or five tours of duty. Stayin’ that long in the Suck would make anyone crazy! And all they get to do is army versions of C.W. McCall and Paul Blart -- escorting convoys to and fro and being security guards.

Yup…pResident Bush started this fuckin’ mess and it looks like the ‘Bamer isn’t gonna stop it anytime soon. Every day civilians and soldiers die needlessly. Every day young American men and women are being driven to the edge by this fucked up bullshit. Does the Government-Cheese care? They say they do during the campaign season but as soon as they take office, they forget. We shouldn’t be surprised.

No News is Bad News

It’s no secret that the dead tree versions of newspapers are in trouble. Readership has been on the downslide for quite some time. Maybe it’s ‘cause the government-cheese has cut so much from the education budget that there aren’t many folks out there who even know how to read anymore. But that’s the crux of another biscuit.

To regain revenue and readership, newspaper editors and publishers are pulling out all the stops. Over the weekend, the RGJ announced two big changes. The first was the return of Corey Farley. If y’all don’t remember Corey Farley, his column was a lot like PTB except he never cursed, he never threatened bodily harm and he never used the word “motherhubbards.” Aside from that…he’s pretty close. Here’s hoping Farley still has his biting commentary. Our thought is that corporate douchebags will keep him watered down so as not to cheese off the few advertisers still spending money on newspapers. Good writing sells newspapers…great writing scares the bejeezus out of advertisers. Only time will tell.

The second new doohickey unveiled at the RGJ is the “Sunday Good News Edition.” To that we said, “Aye Caramba!” The powers that be at the RGJ must’ve figured that a butt-load of feel-good stories would sell product. That may be so but we’re not buying into it. Why? Well, to be honest, misery loves company. Hell, for us here at PTB, misery is less like company and more like family.

With all the crap going on in the world with wars and the economy and terrorists and BSC motherhubbards and myriad other problems, we’d feel disingenuous turning our attention to “softer” stories. Who wants to read about Grandma Myrtle turning 100 years old when the poop is hitting the propeller all around us? Death, destruction and mayhem on a daily basis are stark reminders that there’s a lot of work still to be done. So keep on coming back here to PTB for your daily dose of depressing reality. We’ll keep up the pissin’ and moanin’ and complainin’ and leave the good news to the RGJ. Good luck with that.

Random Thoughts of WTF

A.I.G.’s Chairman told Congress yesterday that the millions of dollars in bonuses the company gave out to the executives who ran the company into the toilet are, “Distasteful.” Funny he uses that term. Foie gras, brie and caviar taste like doodleberries too but we’ll bet those rich motherhubbards don’t give up that crap either.

Here at PTB we’re big fans of the World Baseball Classic. Think about it: Instead of Los Angeles against New York or Pittsburgh against San Francisco, it’s the USo’A against the whole friggin’ world. How cool is that? Problem is, not everyone is psyched to kick the rest of the world’s collective baseball asses. That’s why we’re putting out a fatwa on the manager of Team USA -- Davey Johnson. The other day Johnson was quoted as saying that if enough American players got hurt in the tournament, he’d forfeit the game. WTF? America invented the friggin’ game of friggin' baseball! Besides, there’s nothing more important to an athlete than representing their country in an international tournament. Forfeit? FORFEIT? Hey Davey…if you’re not in it to win it…get to steppin’ cracker. What team do you think you’re managing…France?

If you’re one of the millions of Americans who’ve tried the sleep diet, we’ve got news for you…sleeping will NOT make you lose weight. If you believe that dropping some “Z’s” will help you drop the lbs….you’ve got more of a problem than your weight…you’ve got a problem with your brain pan.

The other night the Nevada men’s basketball team hosted UTEP in a CBI (Coulda Been In) Tournament game. Attendance at the 12,000 seat Lawlor Events Center? Three thousand and change. Aye Caramba! If the college basketball team, who’s been in town for more than a hundred years, can’t get more than 3,000 fans into a friggin’ POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT GAME…how do you think attendance is gonna be for a brand spankin’ new AAA baseball team on a frosty April night? Fasten your seatbelts folks…the sounds of the forest are gonna be overwhelming.

And finally, today is the start of March Madness. You know, the tournament that Nevada USED to get in to on a regular basis. Anyway…it’s estimated that employers will lose more than $3.8 billion because workers are online checking their pools. Listen, if you’re spending work time checking whether or not UCLA is beating the North Carolina School of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, or how the Morris Brown College v. Atlanta A&T tilt is going, GET BACK TO WORK! The only person in the country getting paid to predict college basketball games is Dicky V. As for the rest of us…we’ve gotta get our noses back to the grindstone. How else is the government-cheese gonna get the tax money to bail out AIG again?

A Closer Look

There’s a very special surprise at the bottom of today’s post for y’all. But first, a quick bit of business.

The Government-Cheese is thinkin’ ‘bout confiscating Bernie Madoff (with the money)’s wife’s and sons’ assets. Finally. Anyone thinking the Madoff (with the money) clan didn’t know what dear old dad was up to, probably graduated from Jerry Falwell’s Law School. BTW…the Feds found all of Eliot Spitzer’s hooker money and a hundred or so G’s in one politician’s freezer but they didn’t notice Bernie ripping off billions? WTF were they doin’ down there? Lookin’ for Saddam’s WMD’s?

Here’s a thought: If Bernie Madoff (with the money) was a brown-skinded brother or a drug dealer, the Feds woulda seized every last asset of his (and his family) the very first day. As it is…there was a lot of financial hanky-panky goin’ on in the Madoff (with the money) clan just after pops got popped. It just goes to show you…the justice system here in the USo’A bends over backward for whitey. If you’re in a minority, you get your ass handed to you.

Ok, Ok…we promised…remember the Inauguration? Lots and lots and lots of people crammed into the D.C. to celebrate. Well, below is a link to a picture of the event. WTF is so special about this particular pic? Well, you start off on a wide shot of the entire venue then, with the click of your mouse, you can zoom in close enough to recognize faces. The shot was taken with a 1,700 megapixel digital camera. Heck-fire…you can zoom in close enough to see the horns underneath Dick Cheney’s hat! Figure this…if we’ve gotta spend beaucoup dollars on Homeland Security, this is the kind of cool toy we want ‘em to come up with. Sure would be fun to have one of those cameras at the beach!

-----> CLICK HERE FOR THE PICTURE!!! <-----
