Who Let the Air Out?

During the Presidential campaign of 2008, then-candidate Barry-O told the unwashed masses that a good way to save money on gas and car repair was to make sure you checked the pressure in your tires. He had a valid point but the tighty-righties blew a proverbial gasket.

“Obama’s energy policy is naïve!” “No tire pressure for oil!” and “Democrats are full of hot air!” screamed the VPILFs and McCains and Boners. They even distributed tire pressure gauges emblazoned with “Obama’s Energy Plan.” Problem was, Chocolate Elvis was right and the right was wrong. Fast forward to today…

A Nevada legislative subcommittee is recommending a law that would require mechanics to check their customer’s tire pressure. The reason being, it saves gas, creates less wear and tear on vehicles and pollutes less. Good idea, right? Not to some Nevadans. In the comment section of the RGJ story, there was pissing and moaning and hand wringing and gnashing of teeth and rending of garments. “Keep the government out of my tires” and “It’s the next step toward socialism” and “What will they mandate next? Prostate exams?” State Senator Heidi Gansert (R) said it is a “personal responsibility issue.” Really? Here’s the crux of today’s biscuit

First of all, it wouldn’t cost a penny for a mechanic to check your tire pressure while you car is already in the shop. Secondly, having the correct tire pressure really does work. Less pollution, more gas mileage…hell, I’m all for that. But two things chapped my ass reading this story.

One was the thought on personal responsibility. Ya know, it’s the Government’s responsibility to help keep us safe. Does Ms. Gansert want us to abolish the FDA and let us take personal responsibility to make sure there isn’t any poison in our food? Or maybe close the EPA so we can take it upon ourselves to check for lead in our Chinese-made toys? Shut down the military so we can defend ourselves against the bad guys? Aye caramba! Right-wing nutcases at their best. But let me ask something of the Teabagging, uneducated, Limbaugh-loving, rednecks that populate the 775...

I understand y’all say you’re for smaller government. Fewer regulations, less taxation, more freedom…so why do you support the government telling women they cannot get an abortion? Why do you insist on the government sponsoring the biggest navy, the biggest army and the biggest air force in the world? Why in the hell, if you are for smaller government, do you want the Feds to send troops to the Mexican border to fight illegal immigration and to the Gulf of Mexico to help clean up BP’s clusterfuck? Why in the hell do you insist that it’s O.K. for the Feds to tap your phone and your computer? Why? Because you are small-minded, xenophobic, hypocritical, cracker-assed crackers and you only want the government to stop people from doing things you disapprove of. FUCK YOU!!! the sooner you go back to wherever the hell you came from, the better.

"It doesn't matter what we oppose, it's more about who's saying it." Overheard at a con fundraiser, many years ago.

How many Straw Men need to be needlessly slaughtered in the vain attempt to sell the lies of the liberal left? When will you finally quit the demagoguery and have a REAL and HONNEST debate based on facts? Answer:? I'm not holding my breath, and thus the continued straw man genocide continues.

Telling Americans to check their tire's pressure may be good advice, but it is NOT anything close to resembling an energy policy. Although the technology for keeping nuclear plants has improved greatly, No new nuclear power plants have been built since the hack film "the China Syndrome". We have not build a new Oil refinery in 29 years. Yucca Mountain has been ready to go into operation for years, but it still has not.

Nobody argues that conserving the use of Oil, Gas or electricity is a good thing.. Really, Nobody does... BUT, in order to conserve something, first you must have something. You say it's too dangerous and costly to have oil spills like the current one in the Gulf of Mexico? Fine. Let's drill in places like Wyoming, Montana, Alaska, or in shallow coastal waters where it's safer and easier to take care of problems. How about building some modern and safer nuclear plants that don't require as much nuclear fuel to work. Producing Energy creates jobs and keeps our money here.. which would be a nice change from Obama's current job killing agenda.

And as for your remaining pathetic excuses for an argument - Article 1 Section 8 of the constitution says (paraphrasing) it's Congress' job to raise and keep an Army, Navy and Militia.
Article IV section 4 states: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence. It's THEIR JOB to protect Arizona from invasion.

As for Abortions: I believe most Americans would be happy if they just weren't funded by tax payer money. If you’re going to be sexually active, then it is YOUR responsibility if a pregnancy results. If you REALLY want to take on the abortion fight: The 5th Amendment to the Constitution states: No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

This means - nobody's life can be taken from them without due process first and after having been convicted by a Grand Jury. It's not a far stretch to call a fetus a living being and thus calling the practice of aborting babies unconstitutional.

And of course you’re typical closer.. the traditional name calling and stating that anybody not in lock step with your belief system is evil and must be demonized, impugned or put to death. The Nazi’s in Germany couldn’t have put it better than you did. BRAVO! Only they weren’t just killing straw men, but I guess the new democratic socialists party needs to start somewhere. Straw men, fetuses and then maybe work your way up to kittens before taking on the Jews again.
You think republicans are bad now, but just wait until Sharia Law. Now go on… Time to take your meds.

Dave, While I usually enjoy your tinfoil-hay diatribes, I've gotta tell you...USE SPELL CHECKER. I might take your arguments more seriously if you could spell on a level higher than eighth grade. IMHO. Thanks for reading PTB!

Really? That's the best you can do? You pick on my spell checker?
This from the guy who takes all manner of liberties with spelling.
That is true. (as opposed to your tag line)

According to my spell checker - 0 errors, though my spell checker didn't recognize sharia which is spelled correctly.
